Supporting serving personnel, veteran, reservists and their families

Welcome to North Hykeham's Armed Forces Community Hub

North Hykeham Town Council is proud to support serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families through our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

We recognise the unique contribution made by members of the Armed Forces community and are committed to ensuring that support, guidance and opportunities are available locally.

As part of this commitment, we are developing a Hub and Spoke network that connects people with information, services, social opportunities and community support across North Hykeham and beyond.

Whether you are currently serving, have previously served, are a reservist, or are part of a military family, we are here to help. Our aim is to provide a welcoming local point of contact where you can access information, connect with others and find the support you need.

What the Armed Forces Covenant means in practice

Our promise to the Armed Forces Community

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated fairly and should never face disadvantage because of their service.

By signing the Covenant, North Hykeham Town Council has formally pledged its support to the Armed Forces community. However, we believe that support should extend beyond a signature.

Our goal is to work alongside local organisations, community groups and neighbouring councils to create practical support, meaningful connections and opportunities for those who have served our country.

Connecting communities across the region

A New Apporach to Supporting the Armed Forces Community

North Hykeham Town Council is proud to be piloting a Hub and Spoke model to support the Armed Forces community.

As the Hub, North Hykeham will act as a central point of contact, bringing together information, support services, community groups and opportunities for serving personnel, veterans and their families. Surrounding towns and parishes will form the Spokes, helping to extend support and ensure that nobody feels isolated or unsure where to turn.

By working together, we can create a stronger network that shares knowledge, promotes local services and builds meaningful connections across our communities.

This initiative is about more than signposting. It is about creating a welcoming and supportive environment where members of the Armed Forces community know they are valued and where help is readily available when needed.

Helping you find the right information

Local Support and Signposting

We can help connect members of the Armed Forces community with information and organisations that provide support in a range of areas, including:

• Health and wellbeing
• Mental health support
• Housing advice
• Employment and training opportunities
• Financial guidance
• Family support services
• Community activities and social groups

If you're unsure where to start, please get in touch and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.

Building friendships and connections

Bringing People Together

One of our ambitions is to establish regular opportunities for members of the Armed Forces community to meet, connect and support one another in an informal and welcoming environment.

Whether over a coffee, breakfast or community event, these sessions will provide a chance to share experiences, make new friends and access information in a relaxed setting.

Sometimes the most valuable support comes from speaking to someone who understands your experiences. Through initiatives such as Brew & Banter, we hope to create opportunities for those conversations to happen naturally.

Watch this page for updates on upcoming sessions and opportunities to get involved.
