Town Mayor 2018-2019
Councillor Susannah Barker-Milan
My name is Susannah Barker-Milan and I have served North Hykeham as a Town Councillor since 2011 and I am now very honoured to have been voted in as your new Mayor for 2018/19.
I was born in the town and attended the former Fen Lane Primary School and then went on to my secondary education at North Kesteven School. After a short spell living in Lincoln City I returned to North Hykeham where I have raised my children and enjoyed family life.
I currently work for County Court Care (CCC) a large nursing and care home provider. I manage Eccleshare Court Nursing Home on the Hartsholme Estate in Lincoln and we specialise in Dementia Care. I'm very proud of the support we give to people and paricularly people living with dementia and their relatives, it is immensely rewarding for me.
Some of you may remember that during my first term as Mayor in 2016/17 I created the group "Precious Memories" and we had a very successful year of fundraising and raising awareness around dementia in the town.
My aspiration during that year was to set up a 'Dementia Friendship Hub' in the town which was achieved and launched in September 2016.....the group has gone from strength to strength and every time we meet we see a new face in the room! Providing support to people living with dementia and ensuring they have an opportunity to socialise in their community will continue to drive my year as Mayor.
I look forward to being your Mayor once again and representing the wonderful town in which we all live!
The North Hykeham Dementia Friendship Hub meets every first Tuesday of the month at One NK, Moor Lane - we are always looking for volunteers
